A group of 18-20 people that are selected as juniors (30 initially, 10 or 12 cut) in the end of the school year and are subjugated to beatings, whippings, and stabbings by the instructors or each other as "training". They think they're the shit because they can hold up a sword for 15 minutes and stomp on the ground really hard with their left leg. This usually ends up inflating the cadets' ego and thinking they are superior to every other officer who did not complete JSD or got cut. Usually referred to underwater basket weaving.

A goth who has been part of the subculture since it originally came about, or a goth over the age of 40.
