Reporters outside the Cruz family home also observed that Cruz had left the family poodle Snowflake alone inside the house without heat. The dog was spotted through the window of the front door of the dark and empty house.202 One reporter who visited the house spoke to a self-identified security guard who said he was caring for the dog.203 Cruz's political allies and rivals condemned him for leaving Texas during a crisis and traveling internationally during the COVID-19 pandemic.198 Cruz initially said he was taking his daughters on a weeklong vacation from school at their request, in an attempt to be a "good dad".204 Later that day, he returned to Texas and said the vacation was a mistake.205 Protesters calling for his resignation greeted him in front of his house upon his return.206

A disloyal friend. Someone who will befriend you when it’s beneficial or convenient for them, but will ditch you the second you’re no longer useful. They’re basically a phony friend who are only interested in you when it’s in their favor but couldn’t care less about you as a person.

Black issue, white issue, it doesn’t matter, a Fair Weather Racist wants the attention and will degrade any and everyone they have to to be a part of the current social backlash.
