Not to be confused with certain Thai ethnic minorities, a hill tribe is a base, uncivilized, anti-intellectual, trashy populace present in mainly Western societies of the first world. Such people are philistines. They are incapable of appreciating subtle, challenging art beyond products of kitsch. They spoil, abuse or neglect their children, dismantle public property, create awful messes, leave behind tons of waste, are grossly sexual, cause public scenes, abuse retail and food service workers for no good reason at all, act extremely narcissistic and entitled, and do not contribute to public life. Bonus points if the hill tribes try to come off as "cultured" or wealthy by flashing brands their favourite celebrities wear, or if they are pseudo-intellectuals trying to quote Nietzche out of context in order to flex on others.

What's important to remember is that a member of the hill tribes can be of any race and any socio-economic background. What's also important to remember is that the hill tribes are never conscious of their filth. In their eyes, they're the best people they know. Therefore, if we aren't conscious of what we do and how we behave in society, we who mock these types might come off as members of the hill tribes ourselves.
