A person who isn't deaf, but nor are they hearing. Often a hard of hearing person will feel like they have a "foot on both sides of the fence." Many people make the incorrect assumption that a hard of hearing person can hear everything, only less loudly. Group situations are very difficult for hard of hearing people, so many will avoid them.
When you're speaking to a hard of hearing person, you should be facing them, speaking in a clear, even voice, and make sure that you're annunciating your words properly.

The biggest fuck you in hockey. When you take a shot and hits the post. The post making a ringing noise when hit. Goalies like the noise though.

When someone is so focused on listening to one thing and cant hear anything else.
When someone can only hear one thing at a time, instead the culmination of sound from the entire room.

Pacman Hearing is where a group of people are talking about one thing then move on and start talking about something else and then one of the group starts talking about the first thing as if no one had mentioned that conversation at all.
Max: hey did you watch the England game yesterday?
Tom: yeah it was good, that was an amazing goal
Max : i know great goal, any one else do much yesterday?
James: i watched the England game, they scored a sick goal !
