many shy ppl can have low self-esteem; thus that can be a reason why they're so shy.
some ppl make fun of certain ppl and mess with them a lot, b/c they have low-self esteem..b/c they feel bad about themselves, or they have something they dont like about themselves, so they make fun of someone and when they get other ppl laughing they feel better about themselves, or they feel good that they got something out of that person.

When you walk in front of a labor-to-work place, salvation army, bus station, or any other area where welfare recipients congregate and feel a little bit better about yourself due to the high concentration of scumbags.
I was feeling pretty bad that I lost my job until I walked down self esteem row. Now I feel a little better about myself because those people have PROBLEMS.

A girl or woman who regularly goes out seeking anonymous sex not because they enjoy it, but because they feel that it will increase their self-esteem. However, it often has the opposite effect, though these poor, misguided girls often continue in the hope that they achieve the desired effect.
She went through the London bars each week looking for anonymous sex with any guy that would have her just to feel better about herself. She's a self-esteem whore.
