"5 mins later" starts throwin up against then wall... few mins later falls off the bed about 4ft to the ground, hits his head on a storage crate and rolls around on the floor.

Do work means to do your best, get after it, step up and push through barriers, overcome & achieve, etc. It's basically a way of encouraging someone to work hard. A more redneck version would be Get'er done!
