I used it during a conversation when one of my friends slightly screwed up a word but not too much that it didn't make some sense so instead of saying is that a deviation of a the word the meant I used the word derivatation.
Person 1: I am dying of hungarvation cause I haven't eatin' since breakfast yesterday.
Person 2: Dude that sounds like a derivatation of a word did you come up with that one yourself????
