When the joker thinks his/her own joke is hilarious, but no one else does. He/she laughs, and everyone else laughs because it is funny that he/she thinks he/she is funny.

Sam: "I'm very punny, get it, punny? Ha ha ha ha ha ha!" Josh & Mike: "Umm." Sam: "hahahahaha!" Josh & Mike: "haha!" Josh to Mike: "dude that was a total dads joke"

Dad joke

Jokes told by a lot of dads that may may been funny years or decades ago but have grown "tired" over time. Examples include "Caddy Shack" or "Borat" bits. Dads typically have a static repertoire of these jokes they have been perfecting for years.

Any time someone mentions New York Italians the Dad Joke in response may be "fuhgeddaboudit."
