Charlie price is the local name given to large grey rats that inhabit Belize City. The name is attributed to Sir Charles Price, an 18th century English slave owner in Jamaica, who was falsely credited with importing the rat to Jamaica from the Mosquito Coast (the Central American Caribbean coast).
