Noun: a friend who is usually only called upon by a friend when a more primary/prominent friend is unavailable.

Taken from the term “second string” in an athletic competition situation. In football, if the star quarterback gets injured during a play, the second string is called off the bench to replace him/her. A “Second String Friend” is essentially benched until needed, if ever.

This is particularly relevant in the current environment when most of the employees are working from home and use Zoom application for their meetings.

In this day of remote work and isolation (COVID-19), a Zoombie is anyone whose gray matter has been deteriorated by interminable Zoom meetings. They are hard to see on the streets because this variety of living dead hides in their houses behind locked doors... just waiting for the next Zoom meeting invite.

A zoombie is a zombie much faster than a normal one. This can be accomplished through sprinting for the kill, or jumping and climping past obstacles. Due to its extreme speed, a zoombie should be regarded as a more of a threat than a normal zombie.

Someone who suffers from exhaustion and other trance like symptoms after attending multiple Zoom meetings in a compressed span of time.
