Contraction for "You eat!"
Growing up in Nbpt in the 1970's we used yeat the same way we now say "you suck." You're sitting on the high school wall. Car drives by with someone yelling something obscene. There's was only one way to reply--YEAT!

Originating from Newburyport, Massachusetts.
Yeat is a derogatory reaction to display disagreement or discontent with either a person, situation, opinion or proposed situation.
Those who don't understand the usage of the word will often say that it has the capability to take on any meaning the speaker intends. This is completely wrong.
Yeat most often replaces the words and phrases,
"Bullshit" & "Yeah right"
or
Fuck that, You're a fucking (moron, idiot retard, etc)
The origin of the word is from the city's famous Clipper ships from its trade days. It was often used when unloading or loading goods (such as breads). The original usage of the word most closely resembled the word: "Pass"
An example of this:
"Yeat the bun"
The word was later used to identify residents from Newburyport aboard naval ships.

Rumor has it this was a Scandanavian Seafarer's greeting.
Often used in crowds to find other "port" residents, and interestingly, sometimes to calm uncomfortable violent situations among port residents. One group in possible conflict with another may yell "Yeat!" and if the other group responds in kind, the situation calms.
