Also referred to as Japanglish, Wasai-Eigo(和裁英語) is a series of English loan-words used in Japan. Most of these loan-words tend to have a slightly changed meaning or pronunciation from the original meaning of the word used and/or the English word it is trying to convey making it difficult for native English speakers to make out in the first place.
Person A: How do you say mechanical pencil in Japanese.

Person B: Shaapu(シャープ).

Person A: Why is the word so different?

Person B: Because it is Wasai-Eigo. The word sharp means mechanical pencil in Japanese.
