A "Tumblr Girl" is simply a girl who wants to be perfect, not them self. She pretends she doesn't care that she is being used, then the feeling of am I loved kicks in and tears them apart. They start to cry, smoke, do drugs, drink, forget things. They post pics that look like they are happy as ever, when in reality they are miserable. They are seen as selfish and bitchy, but that's not them. They use aesthetics as almost like a cover up, or some sort. Bottom line: it's just a sad, broken, empty girl going after the wrong things as comfort.

It is used to describe a contemporary princess. When you see pictures of her, it invokes a lot of feelings of want. If you do have a relationship with her, it may be one-sided due to the nature of her virtual presence. She is someone you can imagine being your virtual girlfriend.
