When one goes to an event (e.g a football match) and all the nearby pubs are full. Instead of resorting to going to the event itself where all the drinks are overpriced, instead one resorts to the off-licence and purchases a pack (or more) of beer cans/tins to prevent running dry prior to entering the venue.
