Intelligence agency term for "psychological operation". A government or corporate-sponsored operation, usually taking the form of a "terrorist attack" or "crazed gunman on a spree", with the intent of panicking the public into demanding more police and laws inhibiting freedom. Psyops are usually carried out by drugging a civilian or group of civilians with aggression-promoting drugs, psyching them up, arming them, and sending them out to commit mayhem. Basically when two people are together, without the official title. Includes relationship-like habits, but an individual caught up in "a thing" with someone is technically single. It is often the step before a relationship.
1. PersonA: are John and Sarah dating?
PersonB: They have a thing / thinging.
2. Sarah: why are you talking to Jasmine all the time?
John: chill out, you're not my girlfriend, I do what I want.
PersonB: They have a thing / thinging.
