The definition of metal. If you do not like this band then you only like lame fake poser metal. When you listen to a slayer album you should be able to bang your head just about non stop start to finish with only minor changes in tempo.
Slayer fans are the most devoted thrash fans on Earth. Slayer fans are nuts. They carve 'Slayer' into their own backs to pledge allegiance. Slayer have not sold out and still hold true to their high-intensity thrash roots. If an alien came to Earth and said 'GIVE ME METAL', I would give them the album Reign In Blood, or Show No Mercy. No other band would suffice.

An American thrash metal band that originated in Oakland, California. An influence to black metal. Also a member of the big 4 of thrash metal. Typical Slayer lyrics deal with death, war, suicide, the holocaust, and other dark subjects. While most newbies to the genre say that Reign In Blood is the best metal album ever, I and many others believe that Hell Awaits is better in every way. It is far more brutal and evil than Reign In Blood in both the lyrics and the guitar riffs. Don't get me wrong, Reign In Blood is a damn great album. It just gets way more credit than it deserves. I personally don't understand why they didn't make it bigger than Metallica. While Metallica took the sellout route to get more popularity, Slayer never sold out or got worse.

Another way to refer to the Doomslayer, the tormentor of hell, the only flesh and blood to walk between dimensions, a being original from argent d'nur consumed by a rage for anything from hell after his son was killed and he was tricked into letting the hell beings use the wraiths for their own purposes he was horrified by what his son had become.
