During the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Coalition forces were often sickened by the poor hygiene conditions that exist for an invading military. The various stomach bugs that troops would be inflicted with were referred to by them as "Saddam's revenge".

Symptoms include explosive diarrhea, nausea, abdominal/bowl cramping, fatigue, loss of appetite, and headache due to dehydration. Suspected culprits are the fresh sliced vegetables. Other proponents suggest its the bodies adjustment period to new pathogens found in Iraq plus upheaval due to a diet transition and air travel.
