An oxymoron. Pop music and punk music are complete opposites, making the term "pop punk" a worthless gimmick of a musical genre.

Pop/punk is a kind of punk rock with a very melodic sound. Bands that are pop/punk are
Screeching Weasel, NOFX, Riverdales, 88 Fingers Louie, The Ramones, and Rancid. Good Charlotte, Mest, blink-182, Simple Plan, McFly, Busted etc; are not pop/punk. They are power pop.
