Ovation Academy of Performing Arts, also known as OAPA, is basically a ghetto Booker T. with approximately 5 students, none of whom actually want to be there. The buildings are falling apart, the budget is ass, and even though we had good teachers, we don't anymore because most of the good ones were either fired or driven to quit by our executive director, who is definitely mentally ill and God knows why she's running a school.

OAPA is most known for putting on good shows at the cost of its students' mental wellbeing, though the show quality can vary as well. Casual racism and homophobia are rampant, both in the shows and in the general school environment, as well as emotionally abusive staff members. Fortunately, the drama between students is minimal, however, that can be attributed to (a) the amount of drama amongst the staff that the students must band together to cope with, and/or (b) the fact that most of our students quit after our good teachers got sacked.

Upon entering Ovation Academy, students are issued a troupe shirt, sweatshirt, face mask (as of 2020), a locker, a ridiculous tuition bill, an eating disorder, suicidal tendencies, emotional trauma, an identity crisis, and academic dishonesty. Students are asked that they turn in their phone, their self-expression (in the form of any and all clothing that is not black, white, grey, or purple), and their will to live, all of which can (if you're lucky) be collected at the end of the school day.
Bill: Hey, how are you doing?
Jill: Really bad, honestly. My teachers have been yelling at me all week, and even though I'm having regular panic attacks and I think I've dislocated my knee, I'm not allowed to miss classes.
Bill: Oh, that's rough. You must be one of those Ovation Academy of Performing Arts kids, huh?

Mandy: Hey, did you see that group of teenagers walking down to McKinney Square? They were all dressed in the same four colors and I think at least half of them were crying.
Randy: Oh, don't worry about them. Those are just the Ovation Academy students; they practically live down here. If they come towards you, start running. Otherwise, their executive director will make them give you their promo speech and beg you for donations.
