This is also known as, "Person Nearest the Door Syndrome." This rarely fatal but often times annoying syndrome occurs when your desk is nearest to the main door to your office. This awkward location paired with visitors coming in and looking to you as the office Receptionist can surmount and lead to some frustrating symptoms.

Symptoms of PND Syndrome include but are not limited to: daily irritability, mild to severe headaches, loss in productivity, interrupted lunch breaks, fake smiling, loss of enthusiasm, distaste for visitors, and difficulty focusing.

Noun: a friend who is usually only called upon by a friend when a more primary/prominent friend is unavailable.

Taken from the term “second string” in an athletic competition situation. In football, if the star quarterback gets injured during a play, the second string is called off the bench to replace him/her. A “Second String Friend” is essentially benched until needed, if ever.
