Ok boomer is a phrase used by people who fall under Gen-Y (AKA millenials) and people who fall under Gen-Z in order to call out baby boomers on their bullshit.

This is because baby boomers tend to have a romanticised few of how life should be, based on how it was back in their day.

A very dismissive and tired catchphrase only a year old used on social media with memes by the unsocial and smartphone-addicted Generation Z that have no interest in associating with or listening to old people (over 40) or how things used to be, even though today’s Boomers are all between 60 and 80 today. The phrase has been a success at offending older folks on social media wanting their voices heard and respect.

The "ok boomer" phrase is an internet joke that is used as a method of dismissing those with stereotypically older or outdated mindsets and opinions that are entirely false or generally bad for society such as racism, sexism and homophobia.

It goes beyond ignorance and refers to those who simply don't want to change.
By saying ok boomer, more open minded are saying "okay we heard you and you are entirely incorrect, hurtful, etc but we have better things to focus on rather than give you an explaination to something that you will simply dismiss." Instead, we dismiss the boomer.
Boomers can be any age, but are primarily part of the baby boomer generation. Not all baby boomers are subject to "ok boomer" (I.e. Danny Devito, who despite being in the baby boomer generation is very open minded and accepting. Not a "boomer.")

A 20 year old homophobic man is a boomer.
Racist 30 year olds.

An 80 year old who is not hurtful to society with outdated opinions? Not a "boomer".
There are open minded older folks and close minded younger. This was inspired by a dismissive older person so the term was coined.

The definition of Ok Boomer is Offense for an old lady or man

1. The response Gen Z's and Millenials use if a Baby Boomer says something they don't like.
