Noun: a friend who is usually only called upon by a friend when a more primary/prominent friend is unavailable.
Taken from the term “second string” in an athletic competition situation. In football, if the star quarterback gets injured during a play, the second string is called off the bench to replace him/her. A “Second String Friend” is essentially benched until needed, if ever.

The reason that video stores all across America are shutting down. People don't want to waste time driving to the video store and spending more money than they have to, so they order netflix, which is considered more convenient. Let's face it, video stores just can't keep up.
Guy 1: "Hey let's go to Hollywood video and find that one movie about the girl who has teeth in her vagina!"
