neopronouns are pronouns that are not he/him, they/them, or she/her. these pronouns are often used by neurodivergent people to feel more confident in their relationship with gender, since neurodivergent people experience gender differently. neurotypicals can also use neopronouns, they are just more common amongst neurodivergent people.
person 1: “xe uses neopronouns because it makes xem feel more comfortable in their gender.”
person 2: “they don't make sense!”
person 1: “actually, they do, they can be used in the same way as he/him, she/her, and they/them! if you look up certain sets of neopronouns, they'll show you how they're used in a sentence!”
person 2: “wow! really? that's so cool!”

neopronouns are a set of (usually) gender neutral pronouns commonly used by trans or gnc individuals. pronouns are simply a set of words that are used in place of someone's name, and therefore do not have an inherently implied gender, just as someone's name does not inherently equal their gender. neopronouns are common and have been around for years, with the first known set of neopronouns thought to be created by Charles Crozat Converse in 1858 (thon/thons). furthermore, many other cultures and languages have had neopronouns for many years before that.
examples of neoprns:
ae/aer
doll/dollself
bun/bunself
fae/faer
vae/vaer
+ many more !
if you think neopronouns are not valid, well guess what? you're transphobic !

Neopronouns are a form of pronouns; everyone has pronouns!! Neopronouns are often used by nonbinary folx as replacements for he/him, she/her, and they/them, if they feel that these typical pronouns are too confining or just not right for them.

Neopronouns are used more often in neurodivergent people than in neurotypicals, because of their different connections and experiences with societal constructs, like gender.
Because of the large amounts of neurodivergent people using neopronouns, if one (usually a cishet) were to disrespect neopronouns, that person could be rightfully deemed ableist. Failure to respect neopronouns is transphobic, too, and one cannot claim to support the trans community in its entirety if they exclude people that use neopronouns.

The first set of written neopronouns (thon/thonself) was coined by Charles Crozat Converse in 1858. You can see this in some dictionaries, like the online version of Merriam Webster. These were not the first neopronouns used; ne, hiser, e, ou, ip, se, hi, and le all came up around the same time, but are rarely (if ever) used nowadays.

Common neopronouns include:
It/its/itself
Ey/em/eir
Ze/hir/hirs
Xe/xyr/xem/xeirs
E/em

Fae/faer is said to be a set of neopronouns, but is cultural appropriation and shouldn't be used by most people, unless you're of Celtic descent.

Neopronouns can be more than those listed; many people nowadays with neopronouns use doll, bug, rat, cap'n, etc.
Example 1:
Did you see Rain today? Dolls shoes are SO COOL!! Rain's so much cooler than all of y'all, doll has so much swag. >:) Lowkey have a crush on doll.........

Example 2:
Jackass: "Did you see Taylor? I heard he wore a dress to the park yesterday..... so cringe."
Decent human being: "Hey, Taylor's pronouns are they and it; you know they're nonbinary. Neopronouns are not that hard to use, Kevin."
Jackass: "Anyone that uses pronouns is a sensitive little snowflake."
Decent human being: "You know *everyone* uses pronouns, Kevin? It's not that hard to respect them. Besides, it looked SO COOL in that dress!! They're so awesome, and you're genuinely missing out on *so much* by refusing to talk to them."
