A man travelling from Sanoma County, CA to the neighboring Marin County, CA told stories of people who smoked "mokies". Overnight, it transformed from a tall tale into a worldwide phenomena of "mokie" addiction.

Other criteria generally associated with the term are that they are incredibly popular with girls, and very random. The term can also refer to a person who has an infinite supply of adrenalin, and as such, can have sex continuously for really long periods of time without stopping.
