The original term was made as a response to mock misogynists and incels who got angry when they encountered women calling them out for sexism or double standards. Its use was similar to that of "drinking your enemy's tears." Meaning that the term was not mean to be taken literally.
The term "male tears" was hijacked by incels in Urban Dictionary after women started putting the words "Male Tears" on mugs, implying they drank the male tears of misogynists for breakfast. Apparently, some guys didn't like that too much so they defined "male terms" in Urban Dictionary as "semen" in order to scream "gotcha" at women who call out men's bullshit. Because of course, the only way to degrade a woman is to slut-shame her and make it seem like she is implying that she drinks semen.
So no, "male tears" does NOT mean semen in its original context (memes). It was simply defined that way in Urban Dictionary because "Har har, wouldn't it be funny to make it seem like empowered women are drinking our sperm when they say "I drink male tears" instead of making fun of us because of our fragile egos???"
Mary: So anyways that guy was whining about how guys have it much harder than women because they get friend-zoned, as if women don't risk their lives every time they go out on a date with a total stranger.
Cara: So what did you say to him?
Mary: I told him 'Boo hoo, cry me a river, I would drink your fragile male tears.'
Cara: Male tears? Isn't that slang for semen?
Mary: Nah, a bunch of clowns on Urban Dictionary defined it that way so that people who looked would get confused and think that women are saying "I would drink your semen" when they are really saying "I don't care about your hurt feelings when you are being sexist and privileged."
