To get off of the elevator on the wrong floor; usually in descending mode, onto a floor between you and the ground floor. Typically the misvating person (misvator) steps out, stutter-steps in confusion, and then re-boards the elevator with a degree of embarrassment. Using this word can be an excellent conversation starter (see example).
That's OK, I misvated yesterday." "Huh?" "Yeah, I misvated -- got off on the wrong floor, like you just did."
