Term used to describe a person with whom one has a romantic fling with for a short period of time, but who is not pursued for a deeper, more meaningful relationship. Not to be confused with "friends with benefits", which insinuates a purely physical relationship with inconsequential fornication.
After meeting each other at a language summer camp, S and C developed a lovefriend relationship: they acted like a typical couple, but went no further and parted their separate ways forever after the camp.

A gender-neutral term that refers to a romantic relationship between two people, akin to a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. The word removes the emphasis on gender and replaces it with an emphasis on love. The term is versatile and can be used by various sexuality identities (eg. heterosexuals, homosexuals, pansexuals, etc.) and gender identities (non-binary, transgender, genderqueer, etc.).
