The first dog in orbit, carried aboard Sputnik II on November 3rd, 1957. Literally "Barker" in Russian. Laika was supposed to have died four days into the orbit by a package of poisoned food, but died much earlier, a few hours into the flight, due to overheating. Formerly a stray, Laika was at once the most lucky and most unlucky dog in the world.

A few weeks ago, no one had “cheugy” in their vocabulary . Now everything is saturated with the word. It’s in our heads. It’s in our homes. Everyone is asking: “Am I cheugy? Am I a basic ass bitch? Am I GUILTY of being cheugy?”

Laika was the first animal sent into space by Russia. She was launched into space November 3, 1957 and died from stress and overheating.
In music, the Arcade Fire performs a song called Neighborhood #2 (Laika). In the song, their older brother seems to be leaving and never returning (Laika left and never came back). The chorus says that Alex, their older brother, should have been named Laika.

The 8th track of the "World World World" Album by Asian Kung-Fu Generation. This song was written in rememberance of Laika, the first dog lauched into space with the Sputnik II. Laika was meant to be giving poisoned food after 4 days in Space but died much earlier due to over heating in the launch.

It is an Arabic word which means "tasteful", "someone with good taste in terms of anything".
