A slogan that Portlanders say because Portland Oregon is "weird" because it's very progressive, has a lot of hippies, is a place where most people are very chill, free, and accepting, and has a lot of cultural things like a lot of people who ride bikes instead of driving, get tattoos, the art focused culture, events like The Naked Bike Ride, The Naked Goddess Swim, etc.
Portlanders kind of feel like Portland is slowly becoming not as good as it was before and kind of becoming just like other big cites because of things like so many outsiders moving there and becoming sort of an exploited tourist attraction because outsiders think it's so qUirKy and wEiRd, housing prices rising, gentrification, and construction of a bunch of weird giant condo buildings that everybody hates and thinks are stupid.
Portlanders tend to hate these changes a lot and wanna keep Portland the way it is because the people and the culture that makes outsiders see it as "weird" is what makes Portland the way it is and why so many people love the city so much.

The long-standing slogan of Portland, Oregon, at present ground zero in the new world of American Fascism.
"Be careful what you wish for", he thought, passing the downtown mural that said 'Keep Portland Weird'. Hours earlier, he had been grabbed by heavily-armed, camo-clad paramilitary, thrown into an unmarked van, blindfolded, sped away, dragged into a building, interrogated, and much later dumped back on the street. Portland was getting weird in ways that no one could have imagined.
