A genre of American reality television that presents a stereotype of southern rural people of Louisiana sometimes referred to as "hicks" or "swamp people."

Television shows such as "Rat Bastards" "Turtle Man" and "Swamp People."

Stars of the show have names like Rigger, Skeater and Kridder, speak in an accent unique to the region and spend their time hunting for rats, alligators and and / or turtles in the bayou.
