"Hello Japan" is a subset of failure (fail). A "Hello Japan" scenario is where an individual's attempt to respond to a dangerous situation with humor or a casual attitude ends with pain and/or humiliation.
David strolled across the street playing chicken with the speeding car and got run over. It was his "Hello Japan" moment.
