A groovy earthy vibe. Used mostly in music. Originally sourced from the intimate scent of a woman.

A man who messes around with other men, but no one would ever know by looking or talking to him. Used by gay black men to identify masculine gay men or DL Brothas.

A state of undesirable emotions or feeling out-of-sorts. These feelings may include but are not limited to: sadness, boredom that is unusually difficult to curb, laziness, unworthiness, and an overall feeling of malaise. The reasons for being in a "funk" usually remain unknown by the victim while others may know exactly why they are in a "funk" and just have a difficult time getting rid of it. A funk may last a few hours or up to several weeks at a time.

1) A foul odor.
2) A style of R&B music whose artists include James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic (aka P-Funk) and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
3) Depressed mood.

An unfriendly altercation in the Bay Area. Funk means a problem is going to occur momentarily because two opposing groups have just arrived at the same location. In Hawaii they call it beef. In the Bay Area, it's funk.

Used to be a bad word. Irre-ducible essential pulse, life force, hyperventilatin' Groove. Not only moves, it can re-move; will sit and sit and never go sour.
