A single ended class A guitar amplifier designed and produced by The Fender Electric Instrument Company in 1948. The first Champ, the Champion 800, produced 3 watts of power and had an eight inch speaker. The design of the Champ changed many times, but it still remains relatively low powered and small compared to modern amplifiers. Most Champs use a 12ax7 and a 6v6 tube, have a 6" speaker, and produce 5 watts of power. The Champ is still a very popular amp because of its sound and simple design.
Bob- "I just bought a HUGE stack with 100 watts! I can crank the distortion all the way up!"
Joe- "I have a Fender Champ."
Bob- "I am so jealous."

Greatest guitar ever made!!! Used by the likes of My Bloody Valentine, The Cure, Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Dinosaur Jr., and Nirvana. Originally discontinued and seen as failure during the mid 70's, the alternative movement of the late 80's brought the Jaguar to the forefront of style again, as well as the Jazzmaster.
