A month that can be used as a replacement for Destroy Dick December, a punishment for failing No Nut November or even just a fun challenge to do with friends. Throughout the month of December, you and any other participants load up a hardcore world in Minecraft and try to survive in it, playing on all 31 days of December. You are allowed one warm up world just to get into the correct sense of urgency. You can decide to either start a new world or continue that world once you are ready.
You will fail the challenge if you die, use cheats, enter creative mode or spectator mode, etc. It is generally frowned upon if you look up seeds that will allow for close villages near the spawn point or easy diamonds, as it takes away part of the challenge.
If you quickly beat the Ender Dragon, other things you can do to keep yourself occupied are killing the Wither and Elder Guardian, earning every achievement, making cool bases, making every potion and much more.
