A doctress is a female doctor. It is an old word that is no longer used because of the general movement in the English language to be gender-neutral in specifying professions. This is akin to actress vs. actor (although more women prefer actor now)
He went to Doctress Johnson after getting injured while plowing the west garden. Doctress Johnson's husband is also a doctor.
