In the case of online dating websites or smartphone apps, cyber amnesia is when one person sends a message to someone they have previously spoken to under the premise that they have never spoken before. This often happens when someone changes a profile picture, username, or profile information. It can seem rather awkward or strange to the person who does remember the previous conversation(s).
