There is no known cure for autism, and there will most likely never be one to ever exist. Besides, most autistics would decline one given the choice, since autism is essentially a part of who they are.

List of cures that won't work:

- Diets: Will not affect the brain in any way. This is sadly a common misconception made up by a man called Andrew Wakefield, who marketed a vaccine to compete with the MMR Vaccine via newspaper, its main selling point being around the fact that the MMR vaccine could give someone autism by affecting the gut and therefore somehow giving them autism. He lost his medical license after writing that, and most of the original authors have retracted their statements since.

- ABA Therapy. My fuckin god. ABA therapy does fuck all to help an autistic person, and will mentally destroy them instead. ABA therapy is supposed to prevent meltdowns, often mistaken for tantrums by lesser-knowing parents. It makes the autistic person conform to the standards of neurotypical people, when the autistic brain in question is not suited for it. A temper tantrum is usually an attempt to manipulate people around them to achieve a goal, whereas a meltdown is simply when the brain is being overloaded with sensory information to process. All a meltdown needs in order to be settled is a quiet room with support where needed. Instead of catering to these needs, ABA 'therapists' will punish them for this. Usually done so the 'therapist' can make some serious dosh.
The best cure for autism is listening to autistic voices. There is a huge amount of misunderstanding within the autistic community, and the best way to clear it up is by acknowledging it first. The reason it hasn't been cleared up is because we're reluctant to acknowledge it. Autistic people are the only experts on autism. A neurotypical person will never truly understand what autism is like, whether they've won countless PhD's or not. Let us speak first, then you can work on a cure (which still won't happen).
