Intelligence agency term for "psychological operation". A government or corporate-sponsored operation, usually taking the form of a "terrorist attack" or "crazed gunman on a spree", with the intent of panicking the public into demanding more police and laws inhibiting freedom. Psyops are usually carried out by drugging a civilian or group of civilians with aggression-promoting drugs, psyching them up, arming them, and sending them out to commit mayhem. Abbreviation for Casual Online Typing. Has been the most common way of typing while online for a long time. The most popular version consists of using no capital letters, periods or commas in the sentence. Even more casual forms of COT include using no apostrophes ( ' ), while more modest variations use commas and capitalize I. COT also emphasizes the use of abbreviations such as LOL, BRB or AFK. Used on a daily basis during online conversations, remains prominent with teenagers and younger children.
