A portmanteau of the words Chicano and Hipster. They are typically educated, better-off and younger Mexican-Americans who retain some of their parents' Chicano culture, while also integrating modern American hipster appearances such as skinny jeans and flannel.

Slang British word for a car driver who is adept at rat running - navigating to a destination by avoiding major roads and only using minor residential roads and cut throughs, via the use of advanced local or route knowledge and Sat Nav. CHIPS is British army slang for urban warfare (Causing Havoc In People's Streets) and is a combination of CHIPS and Hipster.

Someone who creates noise, congestion and air pollution on minor and residential roads by using local knowledge or Sat Nav to drive down rat runs and avoid traffic on major road routes. Derived from the British Army acronym C.H.I.P.S. (Creating Havoc In People's Streets). A Chipster will typically feel aggrieved or victimised by any local efforts to restrict rat runs and will often blame cyclists, cycle lanes and LTNs (Low Traffic Neighbourhoods) for congestion and pollution.

A cholo-hipster amalgam. A cholo (Mexican/Latin American street gang member) who follows the latest trends and fashions, especially those regarded as being outside the thug cultural mainstream. Will often cite themselves as a pioneering force behind contemporary trends en el barrio.

-(noun) A hybrid of Chicago archetypes chad and hipster: The chipster is truly a chad at heart bringing all the innate baggage associated with being a vain, ignorant, Big 10 fun boy with him as he externally transforms into the Wicker Park staple hipster. This quasi-transformation can be easily spotted by the telltale Pabst t-shirt and excessively spikey hair.

Chipster

Depending on the region, the Chipster usually develops out of a sense of nostalgia for a lost culture that they are able to explore because of their socio-economic status. They are well educated. They can be found at bars ordering Mezcal quoting Anzaldua and Julio Cortizone. They typically listen to a blend of alternative American rock, indie Spanish language bands, vintage music in either language (especially obscure sad ones).

The Chipster aesthetic usually blends styles from traditional Mexican fashion, to East L.A. Chola aesthetics but incorporate contemporary white indie and alternative culture. They either currently attend or have attended a formal Art School program.
