Low quality plastic used in construction of key mechanical parts in order to ensure failure and non-repairability just outside of warranty period. Often shrouded in a thin sheet of satin brushed Nickel plated Chinesium to give appearance of durability.

Examples of extensive use include: Faucets, washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, function knob shafts, locking and retaining mechanisms, furniture fasteners, safety equipment, power tool internals, etc.
Wife: Honey, can you fix the fridge? The door just fell off...

Me: Uhh, no, turns out, the hinge pins are made of Chinese Aluminum, hafta buy a whole new fridge.

Wife: But we just bought that a couple years ago!

Me: yeah but the warranty ran out last month!
