A rock group from the 1960s founded by Brian Wilson and his brothers and cousin in Southern California. Their songs focused on the "California culture" of the 1960s about surfing, cars and girls.
The Beach Boys is one of the best rock groups ever in my opinion.

Guitar pop band from the 60s. Mainly known for their bubblegum surfer music, but became much more than that in their later years. Their genius is most notable on Pet Sounds, a masterpiece album rivaling the Beatles' best albums.
Person 1: The Beach Boys are nothing more than stupid bubblegum music.

Person 2: Listen to Pet Sounds

The first and greatest band of USA.
Influenced by rock and rollers such as Chuck Berry, harmonies of vocal groups like The Four Freshman, and instrumentation from Phil Spector and other acts such as The Beatles and sunshine pop.
Brian Wilson, the genius composer of the band, was musically speaking the Beach Boy. Composing arranging everything, teaching his other 2 brothers Carl and dennis, his cousing Mike Love and friend Al jardine how to sing and what to play, after composing everything on a piano and bass.

Their album Pet Sounds iss the most innovating ground breaking touching influential album of all the time. Composed by a 23 year old dude that 2 years before was making simple but yet original surf songs, which had mostly very superficial lyrics.
By 1966, after listening to the previous groundbreaking album by the Beatles called Rubber Soul, he felt it was first album he'd ever heard that was really a unit, an album where everysong meant something with no filler songs, like rock & roll covers. He felt he needed to express what he felt, it was enough simple rock and roll songs with simple music and shitty lyrics, it was time to go against that fucking cunt Mike Love who only thought of music as a bussiness and fucked up Brian's mind big time.
Brian felt a competition with the Beatles, and so decided to make the greatest album ever, and he did.
The Beach Boys? Yeah I like them
Specially the genius and composer of the band, Brian Wilson, the man.

This group signifies yet another facet of the richness and diversity of the music, fashions and culture of California. The Beach Boys started out as just one many surf rock bands from the late 50s SoCal scene. They wrote pseudo-rockabilly tunes about surfing, sunshine, beaches, cars and racing, and girls (of course!) with a Chuck Berry inspirational slant. However their famous doo-wop inflected harmonies made them really stand out from the rest of the pack. They embraced later styles like psychedlia and medley dance hits (the band scored a huge hit with such a dance beat medley in 1981 due to the enormous success of the trend ignited by Stars On 45). Many critics claim that the Beach Boys declined big time after the 60s but basically all their albums have some really good music and are worth checking out. In the mid and late 80s they continued to score hits like "Getcha Back" (it comes with an amuzing video) and the #1 "Kokomo" and "Let's Cruise" from the excellant Lethal Weapon 2 movie.
1. Some people think that the Beach Boys is just "grandma, hotdogs, apple pie" and all that cornball stuff. Yes they do attract some really square folks but many of their hits have a mischievous slant. Look at the monster LSD-soaked smash "Good Vibrations": "gotta keep those loving vibrations a-happening with her..." . Then look at "In My Room". Is it a reference to whacking off in bed or something else?

2. I came home for leave from the military and a few relatives took me out to see the Beach Boys in concert. It was really a terrific show, their famous harmonizing was done brilliantly and they played their instruments quite well. The fun started out with "California Girls" (hey! I was stationed in Cali at the time and the Beach Boys were certainly right about the women there. Oh yeah!). A fun evening, topped off with a killer fireworks show. The only thing wrong with the whole thing was that I was standing on a tier in front of two young girls who did almost nothing but SCREAM.

3. After I returned to my base in California the Beach Boys had a gig in the area. Needless to say all the tix sold out like hotcakes in a matter of minutes. Local heroes, you know.

4. The Beach Boys, unique as they are (like Pink Floyd and U2 also stand out) have influenced many other bands like the Ramones.

5. I have seen live in concert three bands that boast some of the greatest harmonizing in rock'n'roll: The Beach Boys, Huey Lewis and the News, and Def Leppard.

Quite possibly the greatest and most influential band ever. Their existence more or less led to punk. After their first albulm, Pet Sounds (Which is probably their best), they went with more of a surf rock sounds, but remained awesome for a long time.
Tool - "Broheim, did you hear the new Chumbawumba albulm?"

God - "No, they stopped being good after they started trying to suck"

Tool - "That's cool, did you hear about this new band, the Beach Boys?"

God - "No, are they any good?"

Tool - "They're pretty gnarly bro, I just wish they had more than one albulm out."

God - "They have several, and the new one isn't that good, however everything they did was beyond amazing. So you can go jerk off to the new Bjork albulm, you powertool."

Tool - "What's a powertool?"

Loves the ocean, is seen wearing Gucci, Prada, Dior or Balmain, sandals, sometimes crocs, but rarely. Minimalistic fashion(wears monochromatic colors, along with silver rings and watches and sunglasses) . Is always at the beach, likes leather, satin or any fabric that looks vintage. Probably has a girlfriend and probably makes you feel poor.
"woah look at that dude in his floral Gucci shirt and shorts with his sandals"
