Aidoneus was a mythical king of the Molossians in Epirus, who is represented as the brother of Zeus and husband of Persephone. The meaning of this name is either "respectable mind" or "shameful mind.” Aidoneus later changed his name to Hades, the ruler of the Underworld, but is also known by Pluto.
His name was Pluto, or Aidoneus, and his country was called the Lower World, or the Land of Shadows, or Hades.
