Top definition
3,4-MethyleneDioxyPhenyl-2-Propanone (MDP2P) is a yellow chemical that has a melting point of 87-88 °C and a Boiling point range of 115-170 °C at around 30 mmhg. MDP2P can be synthesized by oxidation of MDP2Pol (3,4-MethyleneDioxyPhenyl-2-Propanol) using either sodium chlorite or sodium hypochlorite and a byproduct is chlorine gas. MDP2P can also be synthesized by a grignard reaction of 3,4-MethyleneDioxyBenzyl magnesium chloride (formed from 3,4-Methylenedioxybenzyl chloride and magnesium turnings in diethyl ether) and acetonitrile followed by hydrochloric acid work-up. MDP2P can also be synthesized from wacker oxidation of safrole. Reaction of MDP2P with an ethanol solution of ethylamine and Aluminum Galinstan amalgam reduces the MDP2P-ethylimine intermediate into MDEA. 3,4-MethyleneDioxyPhenyl-2-Propanone is a yellow oily ketone. It is yellow green in the sunlight. 3,4-MethyleneDioxyPhenyl-2-Propanone is also called Sesamyl-2-Propanone (Se2P, Ses2P, Sm2P), Sesamylacetone, and Piperonyl Methyl Ketone.
I synthesized 3,4-MethyleneDioxyPhenyl-2-Propanone (MDP2P) by reacting 3,4-MethyleneDioxyBenzyl magnesium chloride and acetonitrile followed by hydrochloric acid work-up.
