Generally speaking when a straight man or woman makes sexual jokes toward someone who is apart of the LGBTQ community in a “haha kidding (I’m not kidding)” kind of way. It’s actually very uncomfortable. Ex: Just because a woman is attracted to other women it doesn’t mean that YOU are those other women.
Straight Girl Friend: Omg haha I’m gonna leave my husband for you cause we’d be so much better together
Girl…friend: You’ve said this like 10 times it’s really weird
Str8: Haha I’m kiddiinnggg but like actually I totally would
Girl…friend: I wouldn’t. You’re queer baiting go kiss a cheerleader or something

Get the Bait cratemug. A phrase with two meanings:
1) When the writer(s) of a geek franchise introduce backstory, characters, rules, lists of information, and other continuity details that are intentionally vague, contradictory, and unresolved. The intent is to provoke fan wank and other arguments while always having the carrot of "this issue, we find THIS out!" to dangle in front of fans. Mainstream superhero comics run almost exclusively on this.
2) When a blogger or other editorial writer does an in-depth analysis of a creative work radically counter to the assumptions of its fanbase in order to provoke outrage and fan wank. Usual tactics include "over-analyzing" fantastical elements (e.g. "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex"), unflattering interpretations of the themes, and otherwise presenting valid arguments why the story does not logically work.

1) Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura's introduction of a dozen vague, unresolved plot points and refusal to clarify anything is classic fanboy baiting.
2) I wrote a fanboy-bait article explaining why Usagi of Sailor Moon is a terrible role-model. I bet I'll have a hundred pissed-off comments by tonight.

Get the fanboy baitingmug. Strategy often used by like-miners and like-farmers to mindlessly dismiss often accurate observations and opinions. Using assorted logical fallacies that appeal to common bigots, they quickly get likes and hearts for their efforts from the deluded masses.
Using straw-man and ad hominem as bigot-bait, the hopelessly deluded like-miner chooses rabble-rousing over rational discourse.

Get the bigot-baitmug. When you know a person of the opposite gender who is a catch, but you want to do a buddy a solid, and arrange to meet said person only to "randomly" find your buddy at the same place, and quickly leave after feigning an emergency.
Stephanie is such a catch, but I'm already in a relationship. She'd be perfect for Paul though. I think I'll call her up for drinks and then bait and switch her.
