A pandemic-type virus implemented by Mother Earth to save itself from The Baby Boomer Generation as a last ditch nuclear option after all other natural disasters and world calamities have failed.

“I knew this would happen,” says Mother Earth to God while puking blood.

God just sits stoically, eyes down, outwardly ashamed.
