a city in south eastern va that isn't what it seems. you expect rednecks, but find that there a plenty of ghetto sections in the downtown area. But don't get me wrong, get away from downtown and there's plenty of country-ness.

if you go to north suffolk, which i call fake suffolk as it borders portsmouth closely and is a good distance away from downtown suffolk, you will find ritzy areas and brand new shopping complexes and healthcare facilities.

about 30-45 minutes from the virginia beach oceanfront, still not so far out there that you can't go to a bigger city and have a good time.

Suffocate Faster

Attempting to stray from the over-exposed trends that plagued Cincinnati Ohio's music scene, guitarist Chris Towning and drummer Joey Ray created Suffocate Faster in the fall of 2001. With pride in the straight edge lifestyle and influences like Hatebreed and Earth Crisis, Suffocate Faster sought to create music far more aggressive than what you were hearing on radio and television. Once the band's line up solidified with vocalist Chris Alsip and bassist Josh Secrest, it was time to bring their powerful sound to the proverbial table of the music world. On April 20th, 2004 the band released its first full length album, "Only Time Will Tell" through Broken Sounds. The album caught the attention of many, showed the world Suffocate Faster was here to be heard, and instilled the want for one more thing, touring.

So from May to November of 2004 Suffocate Faster did just that, playing all over the U.S. and sharing the stage with acts like Hatebreed, Full Blown Chaos, Bleeding Through, Bury Your Dead, Atreyu, Unearth, Comeback Kid, Throwdown, Everytime I Die, Between the Buried and Me, Scars of Tomorrow, Vietnom DMS, Shattered Realm, A Perfect Murder, First Blood, Death Before Dishonor, Agnostic Front, 100 Demons, Ringworm, Sworn Enemy, Terror, Mr. Dibbs, xDeathstarx, Embrace Today, and many more. Suffocate Faster was also featured on the Kevin Lyman Says Stage on the 2004 Vans Warped Tour. Look for 2006 to be the year for Suffocate Faster to up the ante. They will destroy a city near you.
Suffocate Faster's new album can be found at Hot Topic, FYE and Best Buy

Suffolk, Virginia. Located in Hampton Roads (AKA the Seven Cities). The biggest city in Virginia by square miles, but if you don't know what you're looking for, you won't find anything. Plenty of things to see, especially in the country areas. The downtown ghettos are home to some of the best niche stores, such as tailors, furniture repair, and the greatest place to buy fried chicken, Feather and Fin.

25% suburbs, 35% ghetto, 40% wide open country areas.

Pronounced "su-fik", "sufk", "su-fuk" or "suf-ik", but NEVER "suf-folk". This pronunciation is how the locals identify non-locals. The same applies for Norfolk ("nah-fik", "nor-fuk", but never "nor-folk"), Chesapeake ("chess-peak", never "chess-a-peak), Portsmouth ("ports-mit", never "Ports-mouth"), and sometimes Southampton (sout-ampton, never "South-Hampton).

North Suffolk, also known as "Nice Suffolk" or "Fake Suffolk" have nice apartments, clean stores, clean areas, and a movie theatre we peons go to on the weekends. If you live in North Suffolk, congratulations, you're not full Suffolkian (not like that's much to brag about.)

Accents here are primarily southern, but kids raised from birth in the Hampton Roads areas are generally fast, low talkers who don't have any dynamic in their speech. The word "dynamic" would be pronounced "dhi-namik".

Suffolk doesn't have much of a niche other than peaceful (yet boring) living, but it's the middle of Hampton Roads and the rest of the 7 Cities are only a drive away.
Living in Suffolk is a nice and easy life. If we ever want any action, we'll go to Norfolk, if we want entertainment, Chesapeake isn't far away, and if we want a view, the Beach is the place.

The eastern county on Long Island; The Suburbs of New York City. Nassau county is immediate suburbs, Western Suffolk is suburbs, anything east of Brookhaven town is country.
The only people who call suffolk and nassau counties "STONG ISLAND" are people who don't live in Metro New York.
