Evergreen Valley College

A community college beside the hill in San Jose, CA. Has a very relaxing atmosphere and the parking isn't so bad.

A large percentage of the student population are asians and mexicans. For science classes which are 98% asian students, it is recommended to go to San Jose City College since the professors are easier.

For liberal arts classes, you'll be with people of all ethnicities. Most of these classes are ridiculously easy, that you wouldn't really learn and still get an A.
Evergreen Valley College student: I got a B in Biology and I worked hella hard for it!

SJCC student: Man I just read the newspaper during class and got an A.

EVC Student 1: (Thick Viet accent)Hey are you Vietnamese?

EVC Student 2: No I'm not and I don't speak it. If you're going to school to learn English might as well practice it in real life you dumb asian. If the only english sentence you speak is "Hey are you Vietnamese?" then go back to your country and ask everyone if they're viet!

EVC Student 1: But I was born in America -_- and I was just curious if you were Viet lol

old college try

A wild and desperate attempt to make a play. Sometimes the term carries a hint of showboating.

Babe Ruth (_Babe Ruth's Own Book of Baseball_, 1928) defined "giving it the old college try" as "playing to the grandstand or making strenuous effort to field a ball that obviously cannot be handled."

The term was quickly applied to any effort with limited chances of success.

From _The New Dickson Baseball Dictionary_ (1999) by Paul Dickson.

In a column that appeared in the _Columbus_ (Ohio) _Citizen_ (Nov. 26, 1927) and was quoted in _American Speech_ (Apr. 1930), Billy Evans wrote that "I gave it the old college try" is a term "often used in big league baseball, when some player keeps on going after a fly ball, usually in foul territory, with the odds about ten to one he would never reach it. Teammates of such a player often beat him to it by shouting in unison with the thought of humor uppermost: 'Well, kid, you certainly gave it the old college try,' as he falls short of making the catch. When some player does something that a professional player might not ordinarily attempt, such as colliding with a fielder who had the ball ready to touch him out, in the hope that he might make him drop the ball, regardless of the danger he was courting, someone is sure to say, often ironically, if the speaker happens to be one of the players in the field: 'That's the old college spirit.'"

Community College Syndrome

A false sense of academic entitlement that some community college graduates display after performing extremely well grade-wise during their tenure. It should be noted that this same student would most likely perform at or below average at a more difficult private or public univeristy, thus disovering reality. The symptoms seem to manifest themselves mainly in young women who believe a japanese introductry class and a passing grade in photoshop give them the footing to debate proust.
Jan: yeah so I graduated from GCC with a 4.0, like I'm really smart and don't agree with George Bush.
Cliff: Really, like his foreign policy or mishandling of Katrina?
Jan: Umm...well remember when he said, now watch this drive? I mean, c'mon now
Cliff: Hmmm, so that's your reason?
Jan: yeah, oh, and do you want fries with that?
Cliff (thinking): Big tits and a great ass, to bad for the community college syndrome

Bridgewater State College

A liberal arts college in Bridgewater, MA that is regionally known as a "teachers college" but, in fact, offers comprehensive curricula in many departments.

BSC has a large commuter population which detracts from an academic atmosphere despite that many of the faculty and staff are highly qualified. A majority of unenthused students fail to take advantage of the plethora of activities and opportunities offered by the college. The remaining minority go on to do fantastic things with their lives while freed of the immense debt incurred by ivy league and private school students.

Many BSC students drink their lives away. The institution, however, offers much more than that.
I'm thrilled I received such a fantastic education (and so many incredible opportunities) at Bridgewater State College and am still graduating with no debt! WHOO!!
