Get the bone rattler mug.Phrase - one of the original curses listed in the Bible. Saying this phrase was viewed as an actual curse: when arguing with another, they would invoke an insult, followed by the phrase “by gods bones” to literally invoke the almighty into following through on your words. As people had more of a solid belief in god back in the day, this was a very, very, VERY serious thing to say to someone, and as such, is one of the original “curse words” listed in the Bible. Saying “by gods bones” was a good way to end up dead, or imprisoned for a long time.
