A way of conveying a location (e.g. a building) that is across a roadway from another location. It doesn’t necessarily mean directly across but can also refer to a location that is at least a block down the road and across.

The bar is across the street, bitch. Not directly across. But across and one block down.

Street meat

A phenomenon in Pennsylvania where people purchase lunch meats from Trader Joe's only and then, for unknown reasons, manage to lose these fully sealed packs of goodness about 100 yards from the store.

Side note: If you're fortunate enough to have a significant other with the eyes of an eagle, the "street meat" may well end up in your fridge, for the enjoyment of all.
