Chattering Classes

The term Chattering Classes is an essentially British expression, seldom heard outside the UK. It was invented by British journalist Oberon Waugh (he really couldn’t stand them) but was later taken up by pundits and political commentators to describe a group of the “metropolitan middle class”. Generally though it’s used as a derogatory tag for those who are politically active, socially concerned and ‘highly’ educated; especially those with political, media or academic connections. Its original meaning has now changed somewhat and now it usually refers to WOFS, Londoncentric pseudo-celebrities who talk a lot about social injustice, disaster relief, third world aid and all the other fashionable causes but do absolutely fuck all to help.
The chattering classes are all talk and no action.

Man. I love hanging out at Sam's, but ever since she got a cat, I can't. My cattergies are just acting up too much.

A "joke", often making a political or social statement, whose purpose is to make the audience applaud and agree instead of laugh. Popular with hack comedians and their fans.
Did Margaret Cho tell a single joke during that performance? Her entire show was just left-wing clapter.

chatter box

clutteration

Noun.

Clutteration is the assortment of useless but decorative objects, such as china ornaments, that women like to put on tables and shelves.

Once clutteration is advanced, it will become impossible to find a clear horizontal surface to put your drink down on.
I came home and found my wife had put an aromatherapy set on my bedside table and 'tidied away' the book I was reading. Total clutteration!
